Who They Are

Almost 150 Years of Connecting Energy and Data

Prysmian's story began in Milan in 1879 as the cables business of Pirelli, and the company took the Prysmian name in 2005. Through the acquisitions of Draka in 2011, General Cable in 2018 and Encore Wire in 2024, it became the global leader in energy and digital connections. It is listed on the Milan stock exchange and has been part of the FTSE MIB index since 2007.

Today Prysmian employs around 34,000 people in more than 50 countries, with 109 plants, 30 R&D centres and the world's largest fleet of cable-laying vessels. Its cables run through power grids, offshore wind farms and data centres, and through regional landmarks such as the Burj Khalifa, the Dubai Metro and the Mecca Clock Tower.
